HIRES

The PPC regularly hires out Birth Pools and TENS machines. Birth Pools are used for homebirths and TENS machines can be used in labour wards or birth centres.

BIRTH POOL HIRE

When you hire a pool from us, you can expect a safe, clean pool with everything in working order. Along with the pool, we include all the equipment that you will need to have a water birth at home. We also include a journal of birth stories from the pool’s history which you are welcome to add to.

 

We currently only provide inflatable pools for hire.  Each hire includes:

  • Pool

  • Sealed, disposable liner

  • Hose pipe

  • Pool emptying pump and circuit breaker plug

  • Tap adaptors, washers, thermometer, mirror and nylon net

  • Disinfectant for cleaning the pool

  • A contribution towards the upkeep and eventual replacement cost of the pool via the suggestion donation.

The cost of hiring the pool is £120. We ask for a £30 deposit to reserve your pool and that the full suggested donation is made in advance of the hire date. On return of the pool, we will check it over and ensure there is no damage. If damage is found, we will first utilise your deposit to make good the damage and thereafter ask you to arrange to cover the additional expenses. It is for this reason that we remind you that whilst the pool is in your possession it is your insurance that covers the pool and accessories.

Our pools are hired out for approximately four weeks –  two weeks either side of the time you expect your baby to be born.

TENS MACHINE HIRE

TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) machines have been found, by some women, to help with the pain of labour and birth.

We provide all you need to use the TENS Machine including the electrode pads and batteries. The hire is for approximately four weeks (two weeks before and two weeks after your due date).

We are not a commercial hire company and provide these machines for a donation (suggested amount is £25). Machines are uplifted from our centre at 188 Pleasance on the agreed date of any hire, and our office team will touch base with you in advance of the start date to arrange a suitable time.
