About and FAQs

Our Breastfeeding Support Group is a facilitated social group focused around breastfeeding. It is a welcoming and supportive space for you to meet and chat with other breastfeeding parents in your local area. A place to share your breastfeeding experiences, ask questions and access information relating to breastfeeding. Facilitated by Holly Gibb, a trained breastfeeding supporter. The drop-in group is an opportunity to make new friends and build a supportive community, through a reliable and ongoing weekly session. It covers: Help with positioning and attachment of your newborn Peer support Problem solving of breastfeeding difficulties In the UK we have some of the lowest breastfeeding rates in the world with eight out of ten women stopping breastfeeding before they want to. A key aspect of improving breastfeeding rates is the provision of face-to-face, ongoing, predictable social support within the local community (UNICEF). WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE GROUP? We will have an informal discussion, so please bring any breastfeeding questions you’d like to discuss with the group. We will draw on our collective experiences to help one another but if you would like a private discussion with a trained breastfeeding supporter that is also available. WHO IS THE GROUP FOR? All are welcome! Please do join us if you are pregnant, currently breastfeeding, or mixed-feeding a newborn or toddler or wanting to share your experiences of breastfeeding with other parents. BOOKING INFO The Breastfeeding Support Group takes place every Wednesday morning at our centre, from 10-12pm. Please feel free to drop in any time! The group is free to attend and is funded by The Weir Trust for which we are hugely thankful. No booking is needed but you can register below ahead of time.
